ALOÉ: What a fun job you have! Tell us, what is the best part of what you do?
ROSE: Being a Makeup Artist is an incredible job! I am so very lucky to have an amazing job and the best part of my job is seeing the reaction from my clients after I have finished a makeup and seeing the happiness and smile on their face – it is a very rewarding job. I also get to meet and work with a number of new and existing clients and it is so great to continue and grow relationships with everyone that I meet along the way after doing their Makeup.
ALOÉ: Who is the most interesting person you have worked on to date?
ROSE: The most interesting person that I have worked on would have to be Monica from Married at First Sight, it was such an interesting day when we were shooting this TV show as we had never met each other before (I normally meet every bride I work on before the wedding day) so we had 5 mins to discuss the overall hair and makeup look she was going for on her wedding day on the show and then we both got filmed the whole time, so we were chatting and getting to know each other aswell as her trusting me to do a great job for her appearance on TV.

ALOÉ: You must get to work with some pretty amazing people. Do you ever get star struck?
ROSE: I have been very lucky to work with some amazing and very talented people, I have been star struck a few times and just overall super excited to have been lucky enough to work with some great people. Driving to the job I get a little nervous but then try to think of it as just any other makeup job and then once i get there, I just walk in and try to be my normal bubbly self and treat them just like any other client and more so my friend, just like I would anyone else and then the conversations flow a lot more naturally.
ALOÉ: What made you decide you wanted to be a make up artist/how long have you been doing it for?
ROSE: I have been doing Makeup for 6 years now. I decided I wanted to be a Makeup Artist when I had finished school. I loved getting creative with makeup and learning about makeup so I decided to study my diploma of makeup artistry after school and then I started assisting makeup artists to get an idea of the industry and feel in love with it. You definitely have to work hard and be good at what you do but all that I have achieved so far has been worth all of the hard work and makes you work harder to be more successful. Being creative and to be in an industry with incredibly talented and like minded people is what I love. I also get to travel, meet new people and am never in the same place 2 days in a row.

ALOÉ: Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to get into the industry?
ROSE: If you are looking to get into the industry, do it! You have to follow your passion and what you love. Go and study a diploma of makeup artistry so that you are taught by a makeup artist who has had industry experience. Be prepared for early mornings, long days, learning how to network, a lot of hard work and to spending a lot of money to build up your makeup kit hehe, then assist – assist as many makeup artists that you can along the way and learn from them, get out there and get hands on experience! =)
“Be prepared for early mornings, long days, learning how to network…”
ALOÉ: How do you handle to early morning wakeup calls?
ROSE: The early mornings! haha. I can handle early mornings because the love and motivation I have for my work gets me out of bed every morning. I look forward to all of my jobs and am so excited to get to each job every morning & it definitely helps being a morning person =) I absolutely LOVE mornings! It’s my favourite time of day, being up before the sun and then being able to watch the sunrise is the best time of day.
ALOÉ: We are always looking for fresh, new beauty labels. What are your favourites?
ROSE: My favourite new beauty labels would have to include Too Faced & Hourglass. These beautiful makeup brands have created a wide range of amazing makeup products. For a cheaper, affordable drugstore makeup beauty brand try the Australis makeup brand.

ALOÉ: Can you share with us your top 5 beauty tips for flawless skin coming into summer?
ROSE: My top 5 beauty tips for flawless skin coming into summer would be:
- Drink lots of water – with the hot days coming up in summer we must keep our bodies hydrated to ensure our skin stays hydrated.
- Tinted moisturiser – with SPF in it too so that you keep your face protected from the sun. I recommend the MAC Lightful C Tinted Cream SPF 30 with Radiance Booster.
- Lip Conditioner – keep those lips hydrated and refreshed and avoid any sunburn. For chapped lips try the Lanolips -101 Ointment Original.
- Hydrating Primer – To ensure your makeup stays in place and refreshed during those hot days try the MAC Prep + Prime Fix Plus Spray – This is perfect for underneath your makeup as a primer and then to touch up and refresh your makeup during the day over the top of your makeup.
- Exfoliator – A great exfoliator will be perfect for once a week use during summer. Try to keep up exfoliating to let your skin breathe and keep those pores open. During summer a great exfoliator to try is the Dermalogica Daily Exfoliant or for a cheaper option try the Olay Skin Smoothing Scrub.
ALOÉ: What is your go to tanning product or brand?
ROSE: My favourite tanning product at the moment is the ModelCo 3 hour tan! This tan is incredible & perfect for anyone who doesn’t have much time or likes to wash off their tan before bed! Pop 2 coats of tan on and leave it on for 3 hours in the afternoon. Wash it off before bed and in the morning you will wake up with a beautiful tan (its not too light and not too dark) It’s also very affordable & lasts for 5 days!
ALOÉ: What is the one quote you live by!?
ROSE: “I believe that all women are pretty without makeup – but with it the right makeup can be pretty powerful” Bobbi Brown

ROSE: I absolutely adore the new exciting range that is you guys have just launched! the creativity and beautiful designs are all amazing and I am so lucky that I was able to be apart of this new range. =) Love everything & love the Aloe brand!!
